Clearly, Duolingo is not talking about Nix. 😸
This morning while I was in the middle of a benchmark run, Don’t Let This Feeling Fade, by Lindsey Stirling (which I posted about last week) came on.
I’m pushing myself to run as fast as I can. Lecrae delivers this line in the song…
And what if finish lines make us happy?
And right away, the Nike+ Run Club trainer cuts in…
There is no finish line!
I wish I could have recorded this! The timing was absolutely perfect. 😄
This song has been on repeat frequently since I saw Lindsey Stirling in concert the other week and has quickly become one of my training playlist favorites.
Tonight, my daughter and I completed our first official 5K in nearby Honeoye Falls! My wife and parents came out to cheer us on — it has been great having their support and encouragement. Thankfully, the rain ended up holding off, and we even enjoyed a root beer float afterwards with our favorite root beer, which is made right there in Honeoye Falls.
A month ago, we ran our first 5K, a runDisney Virtual Running Short 5K (you run whenever/wherever you want and submit your time).
It’s hard to believe that just three months ago we started training. I’m so proud that my daughter has stuck with this, even after training sessions when it has been difficult. It was fantastic to be able to share my first 5K experiences with her! Our next planned event is a few months away, right before Halloween (we have to start thinking of costumes to wear for that one!).
My team at Automattic recently launched improvements to our podcasting support on WordPress.com, making it even easier for people to start podcasting! If you have wanted to podcast but have been scared off by the seeming complexity, please check it out!
The past few days, I’ve been enjoying a key perk of life at Automattic… being able to work from anywhere. I didn’t have to travel far… just a few steps outside to our backyard!

As my family can attest to, I love mint. Thankfully, one of our flower beds has a multitude of mint in it, and it keeps on spreading more and more each year!
This weekend, I decided to make some rosemary-infused cold brew coffee (thanks to my sister for the idea!). It was quite simple. When adding 80g of medium roast Columbian beans from local roaster Union Place Coffee Roasters, I also added the leaves from half of a sprig of fresh rosemary (2g). I let it sit on the counter for around 20 hours.
This morning I tried it for the first time. The rosemary flavor and aroma really comes through!
Today I capped off 400 days in a row of meeting my Move goal with my first two mile run ever!
