To All Who Come to This Happy Place

I’m so glad to see Disney continuing to make improvements to their inclusivity efforts for both guests and cast members. Everybody should feel at home in a Disney Park!

Beignet Dash

IMG_0255.jpgYesterday, my Dad and I participated in the Beignet Dash fun run at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort.

It was a great turnout. Lots of runners and walkers showed up bright and early to start their day off with a 1.4 mile race starting and ending at Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter Resort. In-between, you go along the river through Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside Resort. It’s beautiful.

And afterwards… well, they don’t call it the Beignet Dash for nothing! Everybody who competes gets three Mickey-shaped beignets.

I ended up with third place — if it wasn’t for two speedy young kids I would have won (I’m sensing a trend here). And my Dad had a personal best for a mile! 🎉

Derby Dash

Last August, I participated in the Derby Dash at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort. It’s a “fun run” — 1.4 miles around the resort. Yesterday morning, I walked over to Saratoga Springs Resort before work to take part in this again (I was staying at the nearby Hilton as part of Automattic‘s Grand Meetup). I managed to take 58 seconds off my time and came in second place! (An incredibly speedy 10-year-old came in two seconds before me.)
